WATCH: Jon Stewart and Mitch McConnell Spar Over 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund

Jon Stewart is still backing Congress into a corner. Last week, the former Daily Show host excoriated lawmakers for waiting to pass a bill that would continue funding 9/11 first responders’ medical expenses; less than 24 hours later, the bill passed the House Judiciary Committee. Now Stewart has set his sights on the bill’s final hurdle: Mitch McConnell, whom the comedian has accused of using the bill as a political pawn. And on Monday night, he took the fight back to his home turf, television, by crashing The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

During an appearance on Fox & Friends on Monday morning, McConnell batted away Stewart’s congressional scolding by arguing that many things in Congress happen at the last minute. “I don’t know why he’s all bent out of shape,” McConnell said of Stewart. Stephen Colbert was in the middle of discussing the subject Monday night when he got to that quote—at which point Stewart crawled out from beneath Colbert’s desk, sputtering, “He said what? What did he say?!”
