Government and Tech Conferences Alter Plans Due to Coronavirus

Event organizers are postponing, moving and in some cases outright canceling government- and tech-related conferences in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Normally a hotbed for events and conferences, the full impact to the Beltway and its millions of federal employees and contractors is not yet clear. However, the area’s myriad events—frequented by so many for knowledge exchange, networking and discussion—are already feeling the effects of uncertainty caused by COVID-19. As of March 9, Maryland reports five positive cases, Virginia reports three presumed positive cases, and D.C. has one.
