The viral lip sync battles between law enforcement have been spreading nationwide after social media challenges that appear to have begun in Texas. Here’s just a sampling of law enforcement’s sweet air guitar:

The Grapevine, Texas, Police Department reached for their legwarmers, set Kenny Loggins to a DUI test and — yes, we’re impressed — did the “Dirty Dancing” lift:

Unfortunately, not all cops — make that their bosses — have been into the challenge. “This morning I have received numerous calls from media outlets regarding a Crowley Police Officer posting a lip sync challenge on Facebook to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office,” Acadia Parish (La.) Sheriff K.P. Gibson said in a statement Tuesday. “This email is to advise everyone that our agency will not participate in this challenge. I feel that when a deputy puts on our uniform, they are representing the public by doing everything within our power to deter, stop and fight criminal activity. On or off duty, that uniform represents not only our department but the citizens we serve, that being the tax payers of our parish. I would much rather see our deputies focusing on the spike in criminal activity rather than a Facebook Challenge.”
Maybe he needs a break in Florida:
