Coast Guard Rescues Surfer Stranded by Weather Off Freeport, Texas

The Coast Guard rescued a surfer beset by weather off Freeport, Texas, Wednesday.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a a call from a friend of the surfer at 5:31 p.m. reporting a male surfer stranded offshore.

Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston and a 29-foot Response Boat–Small crew from Coast Guard Station Freeport.

The RB–S crew arrived on scene, embarked the surfer, and safely transferred him to Bridge Bait Marina with. There were no reported injuries to the surfer.
