Coast Guard Seeks Public Input on Proposed Replacement of Stockton Viaduct Bridge over San Joaquin River

The Coast Guard is soliciting public comments on a proposal by the California Department of Transportation to replace the existing Stockton Viaduct (Interstate 5) dual bridge.

The General Bridge Act of 1946 requires approval of the location and plans for bridges over navigable waters of the United States, prior to commencing construction. A Coast Guard Bridge Permit application has not yet been submitted but would be required for this project. This notice allows the public to comment on the most restrictive navigational clearances being proposed.

Location of existing bridge:   Stockton Viaduct (Interstate 5) dual bridge across the San Joaquin River, mile 41.1, at the City of Stockton, San Joaquin County, California.  37° 57′ 12.0” N, 121° 18′ 33.3” W.

Interested parties can access the preliminary public notice containing a description of the proposed bridge replacement at the following website: https://go.usa.gov/xJ8yw.
