The U.S. Department of Transportation and Amtrak have announced that they have reached an agreement to provide $900 holiday bonuses to more than 18,000 unionized Amtrak employees. The bonuses will be distributed during the Christmas season and follow a year in which Amtrak reported record ridership and revenue.
According to the announcement, the agreement was reached between the Department of Transportation and Amtrak’s management and board of directors. The bonuses apply to unionized rail workers across the Amtrak system and are intended to recognize workforce contributions during the past year.
The Transportation Department said the agreement reflects ongoing efforts to support rail operations, workforce stability, and safety across the national passenger rail network.
