Bahrain International Airport to Provide Aviation Security Training

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), which operates and manages Bahrain International Airport, will provide annual civil aviation security training to all Ministry of Interior (MOI) staff based at the airport.

The arrangement with Gulf Aviation Academy includes the new police and customs officers that will be required for the new terminal at Bahrain International, which is expected to open this year. The new passenger terminal is forecast to increase the airport’s capacity to 14 million passengers and 130,000 air traffic movements per year.

The courses will cover international-level aviation security requirements that are specific to Bahrain, so that personnel deployed at the airport will have the necessary training and skills to identify and respond to threats and risks aimed at civil aviation. It is estimated that hundreds of MOI staff will receive the training every year.
