It has been an extremely busy two months at Lehigh Valley International Airport with nine of the Top 10 busiest days at the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint recorded in June and July.
“Checkpoint volume has seen quite an increase at Lehigh Valley, where we have seen a 20.7 percent increase in checkpoint throughput this fiscal year,” said Karen Keys-Turner, TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airport.
Checkpoint throughput has been high nationwide, with TSA officers having screened 3.01 million travelers on July 7th, which was the busiest day in TSA history and marked the very first time that more than 3 million travelers were screened on a single day.
“I commend our officers for their continued vigilance and focus on the mission during what is turning out to be the busiest summer on record,” Keys-Turner said. “I hope that travelers will take an extra moment to thank our officers for working during this busy period to allow passengers to go on vacation and enjoy their summer travel.”
