Two More Airlines Join TSA PreCheck

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is expanding its TSA PreCheck® program with the addition of Advanced Airlines and Eurowings Discover.

Advanced Air is a privately-owned, regional airline that provides service to destinations throughout the Southwestern United States including Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Eurowings Discover, a new airline of the Lufthansa Group, serves airline travelers from the German hubs of Frankfurt and Munich to a variety of destinations worldwide to include North- and Central America, Africa, and Europe.

TSA PreCheck is available for eligible passengers when departing from a U.S. airport, including when connecting on domestic flights after returning to the United States. Travelers who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and U.S. lawful permanent residents can apply for TSA PreCheck for a cost of $85 for a five-year membership. Existing members may renew up to six months before their membership expires. Renewal may be completed online for $70 for an additional 5 years.

When new applicants are approved, they receive a unique “Known Traveler Number” (KTN) that, when added to an airline reservation, makes them eligible to use TSA PreCheck lanes at airport security checkpoints. Children aged 12 and under can join a parent/guardian with TSA PreCheck in the dedicated lanes. In May 2022, 93% of TSA PreCheck passengers waited less than five minutes.

Passengers who are members of other DHS Trusted Traveler Programs including Global Entry, NEXUS, and SENTRI may be eligible for TSA PreCheck screening. TSA PreCheck is also available at no cost for U.S. Armed Forces service members, including Reservists, and members of the National Guard.

TSA PreCheck is currently in use at more than 200 U.S. airports
