GAO: State Should Justify Its Proposal for New Cybersecurity Bureau

The Department of State notified Congress in 2019 of its plan to create a new bureau to focus on cybersecurity and the security aspects of emerging technologies. In January 2021, the Secretary approved the bureau's creation. The Chair and Ranking Member of a House committee asked the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to review State's efforts to advance U.S. interests in cyberspace. Keep Reading

GAO: Significant Attention Needed on ‘High-Risk’ National Cybersecurity

The risks to systems underpinning the nation’s critical infrastructure are increasing as security threats evolve and become more sophisticated. Since 2010, GAO has made over 3,000 recommendations to agencies aimed at addressing cybersecurity shortcomings.
