JHC Technology, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, was the top-earning cloud computing supplier to the Homeland Security Department in 2017, according to a Feb. 16 report by federal market analyst Deltek.
But JHC was providing the services of large cloud infrastructure provider Amazon Web Services. In the same way, the No. 2 DHS cloud seller, Blackstone Technology Group, fronts for Oracle and Microsoft cloud services at DHS and elsewhere. Across government, smaller companies resell the products and services of global information technology companies, often because the big firms don’t want to deal with complex government procurement requirements.
DHS cloud spending in 2017 totaled $167 million, down 36 percent from 2016 but still more than double 2015’s total.
