Felipe I. Colon serves as a Superintendent with the Boston Police Department and is currently the Chief of the Investigative Bureau, which oversees the Major Case, Criminal Investigation, and Forensic Divisions. Superintendent Colon, a native Bostonian with over 30 years of law enforcement experience, is deeply committed to collaboration—with colleagues, community partners, and a wide range of stakeholders—to ensure the highest quality of police services for residents, visitors, and business owners across the city.
Superintendent Colon believes strong leadership is built on consistency, accountability, and trust. He leads by example and takes a hands-on approach to solving problems, developing people, and improving outcomes. He encourages fresh ideas, the use of modern tools, and innovative and practical approaches to strengthen investigations, build safer neighborhoods, and respond to the changing needs of Boston’s residents.
Throughout his career, Superintendent Colon has actively pursued leadership and professional development opportunities to enhance his effectiveness as a leader and a public servant. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England College. He is also a graduate of several distinguished programs, including: Executive Leadership Program at the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Naval Postgraduate School, Senior Management Institute for Police, Police Executive Research Forum, Senior Executives in State and Local Government, Harvard Kennedy School, and National Preparedness Leadership Initiative, Harvard Kennedy School.
