OUR MISSION

The Government Technology & Services Coalition’s Homeland Security Today’s (HSToday) mission is to provide the highest quality reporting and coverage to inform and educate the entire homeland security community.

Homeland Security Today is the premier news and information resource for the homeland security community, dedicated to elevating the discussions and insights that can support a safe and secure nation. A non-profit media platform, HSToday provides readers with the whole story, placing facts and comments in context to inform debate and drive realistic solutions to some of the nation’s most vexing security challenges. HSToday’s contributors and editors hail from throughout the homeland security community. They are the thinkers and doers who shape and implement the United States’ security methodologies, strategies and tactics. From policymaking in Washington, DC, to operations in challenging security environments, HSToday’s vast network of experts deliver the most authoritative, timely coverage of America’s efforts to address threats man-made and natural.

In November 2017, HSToday was acquired by the Government Technology and Services Coalition (GTSC), a nonprofit, nonpartisan association serving the homeland security community.  Under the new ownership, HSToday continues to provide rich analysis across the full scope of the U.S. homeland security enterprise.

HSToday’s audience includes public sector leaders with homeland security responsibilities at all levels of federal, state and local government, as well as private sector executives engaged in supporting the homeland security mission.

Since its inception, HSToday editors, writers and illustrators have earned 20 national and regional ASBPE awards for print, design and online editorial excellence. They included the first-ever ASBPE “Journalism that Matters” award, presented to founding HSToday Editor David Silverberg. Other ASBPE awards recognized HSToday’s in-depth coverage of southern border security issues, beginning with its 2010 ASBPE National Gold Award for Best Feature Series, Savage Struggle on the Border, followed by a 2011 Central Region Feature Series Gold Award for our series on the US National Guard on the southern border.
