Toby Braun has joined the National Advisory Board of the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation, bringing experience in investigations, intelligence, law enforcement, and maritime security to the organization.
Braun is the founder and managing partner of American Special Investigative Group (ASIG), where he leads complex investigations and private intelligence matters for law firms, corporations, government entities, family offices, and private clients. The firm specializes in investigative services, executive protection, threat intelligence, and security operations, with a team comprised of current and former members of the U.S. intelligence and law enforcement community.
In addition to his private-sector leadership, Braun serves as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, specializing in maritime law enforcement management with Sector Los Angeles/Long Beach’s Law Enforcement Division and Sector Boarding Team.
His background also includes more than a decade of pro bono investigative work with the Anti-Predator Project, where he has helped investigate human trafficking networks and assist in the recovery of missing and exploited children. Earlier in his career, Braun conducted domestic and international fugitive recovery operations, working with federal, state, local, and international partners on intelligence gathering, surveillance, and lawful apprehensions.
Braun is also a trained law enforcement professional and certified law enforcement instructor with experience teaching investigative methodology, threat assessment, and operational decision-making. He frequently provides national media analysis on criminal investigations, intelligence, law enforcement, and national security issues.
He holds a master’s degree in national security studies and is both a Board-Certified Investigator and Certified International Investigator. Braun is fluent in Spanish, German, and French and regularly supports investigations with an international scope.
