Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has officially renamed its Newark Special Agent in Charge Office to HSI New Jersey, reflecting the office’s statewide mission and operations.
The announcement comes as the office continues to lead investigations targeting transnational crime across New Jersey. In July alone, HSI New Jersey initiated more than 80 new investigations while supporting security operations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. During the month, special agents and task force officers also carried out more than 25 arrests.

HSI New Jersey’s recent enforcement activity included the seizure of more than 10 million potentially lethal doses of fentanyl, approximately 10 kilograms of cocaine, 14 kilograms of methamphetamine, multiple firearms, and more than $250,000 in U.S. currency. The office also seized about $300,000 in counterfeit goods.
Working alongside U.S. Customs and Border Protection, HSI New Jersey also recovered more than 25 stolen vehicles with an estimated value exceeding $1.5 million.
The office is part of Homeland Security Investigations, the principal investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security responsible for investigating transnational crime, including narcotics trafficking, financial crimes, intellectual property theft, human trafficking, and other threats to public safety and national security.
