Delta flights were grounded this evening and customers reported an inability to book flights online or use the mobile app amid a systemwide outage.
The Federal Aviation Administration Air Traffic Control System Command Center reported that “computer issues” at Delta had forced an “all scope stop” with international flights and sub carriers exempt.
The company has not issued an official statement on the outage, but Delta’s Twitter account told frustrated customers “our technology team is working hard to resolve this issue soon.”
Delta’s social media confirmed that the outage was “system-wide” and expected to be resolved later in the evening.
IT problems previously forced a Delta ground stop in January 2017, leading to at least 150 cancellations due to a systems outage.
Like the problems reported this evening, customers reported an inability to check their flight status and other issues.
Delta reported a cyberattack in April in which credit card information for some customers was exposed last fall. “Even though only a small subset of our customers would have been exposed, we cannot say definitively whether any of our customers’ information was actually accessed or subsequently compromised,” the company said at the time, offering to reimburse customers for any losses.
