Terry Hastings is the Chief Wellness Officer for the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES). In this capacity, Terry is responsible for leading the agency’s wellness program, including the identification and advancement of evidence-based wellness practices for DHSES employees and the larger public safety community in New York State. Terry has more than twenty years of public safety experience and has developed numerous homeland security programs and initiatives.
Prior to being named Chief Wellness Officer, Terry served as the agency’s Senior Policy Advisor where he was responsible for coordinating major policy and research initiatives, including New York State’s first ever first responder mental health needs assessment. Terry has also served as the Deputy Director of the Office of Emergency Management and Deputy Director of the Office of Counterterrorism for DHSES. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Marist College and Certificate in Executive Leadership from the US Naval Post Graduate School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
