Chandler Rebel Named DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs

Chandler Rebel has taken on the role of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, bringing experience in federal communications, congressional messaging, and public affairs.

Rebel previously served at DHS as Principal Deputy Press Secretary from March 2026 to August 2026 before moving into the Deputy Assistant Secretary position.

Before joining DHS, Rebel worked in the U.S. Senate as a Communications Advisor to Senator Markwayne Mullin from 2024 to 2026 and as Deputy Press Secretary for Senator Ron Johnson from 2023 to 2024. In those roles, Rebel supported communications efforts and media operations for Senate offices.

Earlier in his career, Rebel served in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Press Assistant and Staff Assistant for Representative Mike Collins. He also worked on Herschel Walker’s U.S. Senate campaign, holding roles including Director of Advance, Press Aide, and Communications Assistant and Intern Coordinator.

Rebel’s previous experience also includes a communications internship with the Institute for Energy Research and serving as Deputy Field Director for Doug Collins’ U.S. Senate campaign.

He earned a degree from the University of Georgia in Journalism, Political Science, and Public Affairs.
