Dave Howard has joined the Board of Directors of Cyber Huntsville, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cybersecurity and technology across Huntsville and the Tennessee Valley. Howard announced the appointment, adding another leadership role to a career spanning more than 20 years in cybersecurity, counterterrorism, government, and the private sector.
Howard currently serves as Senior Director of Cyber Operations at ECS, where he leads a team of more than 60 cybersecurity professionals responsible for protecting enterprise systems and delivering managed cybersecurity services. In the role, he advises executive leadership and boards on cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and organizational resilience. Previously, he led ECS’s Cyber Threat Analysis Center, overseeing security operations, cyber threat intelligence, vulnerability management, penetration testing, and security automation programs.
Before joining ECS, Howard spent more than four years with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where he served in several cyber threat intelligence leadership roles, including Deputy Section Chief for Adversary Analysis. He led analysts focused on advanced persistent threats targeting federal agencies and critical infrastructure, helped enhance CISA’s cyber threat intelligence capabilities, and briefed government and private-sector partners on emerging cyber threats.
Earlier in his career, Howard served with the Transportation Security Administration, delivering executive intelligence briefings that supported transportation security decision-making. He also worked as Director of Operations for Signal 88 Security. Before that he served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, where he led personnel during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Howard holds a Master of Engineering in Cybersecurity Policy and Compliance from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from George Mason University.
