HSToday Launches FREE Webinars for Homeland Security Information Sharing

Homeland Security Today, the nation’s leading news and analysis site for homeland security, today launched a free webinar series for front-line government, law enforcement, first responders and others serving the homeland mission.

“Our nation does a tremendous job collecting and analyzing information – in formal and informal organizations,“ said Executive Editor and CEO Kristina Tanasichuk. “We’re just not very good at sharing it with the people who need it. We seek to change that.”

The series will focus on sharing information collected by Information Sharing and Analysis Centers, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, terrorism experts, and others engaged daily in information sharing and analysis. The free briefings will not be classified; however, participants will be verified as law enforcement or other official duties in homeland security.

“We want our forces on the front lines – Border Patrol, state and local law enforcement, TSA agents, state homeland security offices – to have the best situational awareness possible. We will leverage Homeland Security Today’s vast network of the most notable minds in homeland to bring together threat analysis with the current state of terrorist activity to provide more information for our critical front-line defense,” Tanasichuk continued. “The more information we share, the better off is every American citizen.”

The first webinar will be June 6 with a look at threats and activity around religious-based institutions, with speakers from the FBI, FB-ISAO, terrorism experts and others. Speakers for the inaugural webinars include Stephanie Yanta, Supervisory Special Agent, FBI; David Pounder, Director for Intelligence and Analysis, Gate 15, representing the Faith-Based Information Sharing and Analysis Organization; and terrorism expert Bridget Johnson, Managing Editor, HSToday.
