The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is bringing its Know2Protect campaign to the forefront of America’s pastime at today’s (July 16th) MLB All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas. This initiative aims to empower fans with the knowledge and tools to protect children from online sexual exploitation by providing a variety of educational materials at the event.
Know2Protect is a national public awareness campaign led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The campaign is designed to educate and empower children, teens, parents, trusted adults, and policymakers to:
– Prevent and combat online child sexual exploitation and abuse.
– Explain how to report online enticement and victimization.
– Offer resources for victims and survivors and their supporters.
“The best way to combat these heinous crimes is through education,” said Kate Kennedy, Director of the Know2Protect Campaign. “We are grateful to our partners at MLB for helping us to provide this extremely important information to their fans and joining our fight against the online sexual exploitation of children.”
At the MLB All-Star Game, fans will have access to critical educational materials that can help them recognize and report signs of online child sexual exploitation and abuse. This collaboration between DHS and Major League Baseball underscores the importance of community involvement in protecting children and emphasizes the role that informed and vigilant citizens can play in combating these crimes.
By raising awareness at one of the nation’s most beloved sporting events, the Know2Protect campaign seeks to reach a broad audience, encouraging fans to become advocates against online child sexual exploitation. Armed with the right tools and information, fans can make a significant impact in their communities.
