Bill Evanina Nominated to Head National Counterintelligence Security Center

Bill Evanina has been nominated to serve as director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, the White House said Thursday.

Evanina currently serves as the director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and has held this post since June of 2014. In this role, Evanina serves as the head of counterintelligence for the U.S. government and as the principal CI and Security advisor to the Director of National Intelligence.

Before holding this role, Evanina served at the Central Intelligence Agency as the chief of the Counterespionage Group.

Evanina was born and raised in Peckville, Pa. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Pa., and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Arcadia University in Philadelphia. Evanina and his wife, JulieAnne, live in Alexandria and have two children.
