K2 Security Screening Group Selected for Las Vegas Airport Checkpoint Modernization

K2 Security Screening Group, a member of the Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC), has been selected to play a central role in Harry Reid International Airport’s checkpoint modernization project. The initiative will upgrade security checkpoints at the Las Vegas airport with state-of-the-art screening systems designed to boost security, efficiency, and the overall passenger experience.

As part of the effort, K2 will oversee the deployment of 20 new security lanes equipped with advanced 3D computed tomography (CT) technology. The company will manage the project in partnership with SureScan Corporation and Rohde & Schwarz, working alongside the airport to deliver the new checkpoint system by the end of 2026.

The modernization effort builds on recent upgrades at Harry Reid International, including an AI-enabled system that calculates and displays real-time security wait times. Already active in Terminal 1 and soon expanding to Terminal 3, the tool monitors passenger flow and posts wait times to flight information screens, while also showing whether TSA PreCheck is available and if checkpoints are closed. A future phase of the project will extend those updates to the airport’s website.

With passenger volumes at Las Vegas among the busiest in the country, the new checkpoint technology and management upgrades are expected to make a significant impact on both security operations and traveler convenience.
