K2, Inc. has announced the successful completion of a cybersecurity assessment conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The assessment evaluated the organization’s cybersecurity governance, implementation of security controls, and alignment with applicable federal cybersecurity requirements.
The results of the assessment validated the maturity of K2’s cybersecurity program and its ability to sustain effective security practices and compliance processes in support of federal mission requirements.
For more than two decades, Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC) member K2 has provided cybersecurity support to civilian and defense agencies responsible for some of the federal government’s most critical systems and operations. During that time, K2 cybersecurity professionals have supported more than 70 federal security assessment engagements, including activities related to the implementation and assessment of NIST Special Publication 800-53 security controls, Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities, and continuous monitoring programs.
“This milestone is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and professionalism of our team,” said K2 President Michael Marcell. “It reflects the high standards we hold ourselves to every day and reinforces our commitment to helping our clients build resilient cybersecurity programs that meet today’s evolving security challenges.”
The successful completion of the DHS assessment comes at a time when organizations are facing increasingly stringent federal cybersecurity requirements, including the implementation of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program.
