Chris Niehaus has been named Director of Federal Civilian at Google Public Sector, bringing more than two decades of experience in cloud technology, federal business strategy, and enterprise transformation.
In his new role, Niehaus leads Google Public Sector’s Federal Civilian business, overseeing growth strategy, customer engagement, go-to-market execution, strategic pursuits, and business development efforts supporting U.S. federal civilian agencies.
Niehaus previously served as Strategic Programs Lead and Strategic Growth Executive for Federal at Google Public Sector. He stepped into interim executive leadership of the Federal Civilian business in March 2026 before his official promotion to director.
Before joining Google, Niehaus served at Amazon, including as Head of Growth and Operations for Global Leadership Development and Head of Global Programs for Education within AWS Worldwide Public Sector Sales.
During his more than 15 years at Microsoft, Niehaus held several leadership roles, including Senior Director of Product Management for Microsoft Azure and Senior Director of Sales and Strategic Programs for U.S. Public Sector.
In addition to his technology leadership experience, Niehaus is a U.S. Army veteran with active-duty overseas operational experience.
Niehaus holds a Master of Business Administration from the Texas McCombs School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Washington State University.
