Brock Long, the former Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and a longtime leader in emergency management and homeland security, has joined the Board of Directors of Uncharted Supply Co.
Long brings more than 26 years of experience spanning federal, state, and private-sector emergency management. He is widely known for his leadership of FEMA during one of the most active disaster periods in the agency’s history, overseeing federal response and recovery efforts for major events including hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, Florence, Michael, and Yutu, as well as the devastating California wildfires of 2017 and 2018.
Confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2017, Long served as FEMA Administrator until 2019, becoming the agency’s 10th administrator. During his tenure, FEMA coordinated responses to more than 144 presidentially declared disasters and 112 wildfires, while managing nearly $44 billion in disaster-related recovery activities.
Long is also credited with advancing several initiatives that continue to influence the emergency management community. His efforts helped drive a greater national focus on pre-disaster mitigation and preparedness, including the implementation of the Disaster Recovery Reform Act of 2018 and the creation of FEMA’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant program. He also championed FEMA’s Community Lifelines framework and the FEMA Integration Team concept, designed to strengthen collaboration between federal, state, tribal, and local partners.
Prior to leading FEMA, Long served as Executive Vice President of Hagerty Consulting and later returned to the firm as Executive Chairman, a role he held until earlier this year. His career also includes service as Director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, where he coordinated disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts across the state and served as a State Incident Commander during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response.
In addition to his new role at Uncharted Supply Co., Long currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the Sullivan Brothers Family of Companies and sits on the board of Tessi. He is also a member of Homeland Security Today’s Editorial Board.
