Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official John Fabbricatore discussed immigration enforcement priorities, deportation metrics, and oversight of unaccompanied minors during an appearance on The Daily Signal podcast with Bradley Devlin.
During the episode, Fabbricatore discussed factors he believes influence immigration enforcement outcomes, including policies affecting employment, identification, financial access, and public benefits for individuals who are unlawfully present in the United States.
Fabbricatore also addressed the federal government’s handling of unaccompanied migrant children and allegations involving the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sponsor vetting process. He said the Biden administration failed to adequately vet sponsors for some unaccompanied minors, resulting in hundreds of thousands of children becoming difficult to track through HHS systems.
According to Fabbricatore, more than 300,000 children were missing from HHS rolls, tens of thousands of hotline calls went unanswered, and thousands of trafficking allegations were reported. He also referenced cases in which children were later identified after their deaths.
Fabbricatore, who previously served as a senior HHS advisor and ICE official, discussed his career with the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and ICE, as well as his experience working on immigration enforcement issues.
During the discussion, he described efforts under Trump-era HHS leadership to locate children who had been difficult to contact or verify, stating that approximately 140,000 children were located and that processes for responding to new reports were accelerated.
The episode focused on immigration enforcement operations, federal oversight responsibilities, and challenges associated with managing large-scale migration and humanitarian programs.
