Border Patrol officials provided an update on the condition of a K-9 that was airlifted to a La Mesa ER vet on Friday evening, closing Grossmont Boulevard and Jackson Drive for about two hours.
The K-9, whose name is Zorro, was released from the emergency vet Sunday with stable vitals and is expected to make a full recovery. According to Border Patrol, Zorro has begun eating again and will receive follow-up visits before being cleared to return to the field.
A representative with Border Patrol said that the K-9’s condition may have been caused by extreme heat.
