The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) project published a new report on July 17, 2026 about the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announcing a $10 million reward for assassinating U.S. President Donald Trump.
On July 14, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump received Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zaydi at the White House. During the meet, President Trump made remarks about the January 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian IRGC Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani and former Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Deputy Chief Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
Trump’s remarks, which critics described as mocking, sparked outrage among Iran-backed militias and political figures in Iraq. They condemned his comments about the operation as insensitive. This comes amid continuing calls in Iran, Iraq, and the wider region to assassinate Trump in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. During Khamenei’s funeral processions, attendees carried banners reading “We will kill Trump” and chanted: “We want Trump’s head!”
$10 Million Bounty
Responding to the President’s remarks, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which is an umbrella group of Iran-aligned militias, stated in a July 16 social media post that these remarks demonstrate the arrogance and moral depravity of the U.S. administration.
In a brief statement posted on the outlet’s channel on Telegram, the group announced it is offering a $10 million reward to anyone who kills “criminal Trump.” It indicated that whoever earns this reward can also instruct that the money be paid to a third party, be it a person, an entity, or an institution.
“The free people of the world will continue to pursue the killer of children and scholars. Tyrants shall taste no peace, nor will the criminal find a sanctuary to shield him from the wrath of the honorable. Retribution is a solemn vow which binds the mujahideen, and the blood of the martyrs shall remain a curse that shakes the thrones of the arrogant, until the aggressors are defeated and the strongholds of tyranny crumble,” it said.
Billboards, Posters Amplify The Message
After Khamenei’s killing and subsequent burial, Iran-aligned hardline media intensified calls to assassinate Trump by promoting revenge narratives, broadcasting threats, and framing retaliation as a religious or national duty—raising the visibility and perceived legitimacy of such messages among sympathetic audiences.
On July 16, the Telegram channel “Fajr Media” repeated the Islamic Resistance in Iraq’s call to assassinate Trump, sharing a poster showing a gunman opening fire at Trump as a presidential convoy drives by. Other prolific militia-linked outlets shared similarly themed posters depicting Trump in the crosshairs while speaking at a rally, depicting the image as an ad on a commercial LED display in Times Square, New York.
Meanwhile, in Tehran, billboards are being erected amid regime threats of retaliation for the killing of Ali Khamenei. One large billboard recently displayed in Enqelab (Revolution) Square—a key site for major political rallies, state funerals, and public demonstrations—showed U.S. President Donald Trump lying in an open coffin alongside anti-U.S. slogans in English and Farsi, including “We will kill Trump.”
