FBI Newark, the New Jersey State Police (NJSP), and the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) are partnering to warn the public about safety during World Cup games at New York New Jersey Stadium and celebrations around the state. The agencies launched a series of public service videos covering topics from terrorism, human trafficking, fraud and corruption to drones and violent crime.
“We will be working with our partners at NJSP and NJOHSP to make sure everyone stays safe this summer. The most important message in these videos is for the public to know how to get in contact with us, leading up to and during the events. Our best eyes and ears will be the fans attending the games and festivals, and people just going about their everyday life,” said Stefanie Roddy, special agent in charge of FBI Newark. “We would like everyone to program our phone numbers—800-CALL-FBI and 866-4SAFE-NJ—into their cell phones. If you see anything that just looks off, call us.”
“As we work together to secure the region, our top priority is ensuring the safety and security of everyone who lives in this region and everyone who will visit us in the months ahead. This is a truly unified, multi‑agency effort, built on strong coordination and shared responsibility,” said Lieutenant Colonel David Sierotowicz, deputy superintendent of the New Jersey State Police and incident commander for the 2026 World Cup NY/NJ. “Public safety is a shared responsibility. Residents and visitors play an essential role by staying alert, being aware of their surroundings, and serving as additional eyes and ears in our communities. Together, we are building a secure environment as we prepare to welcome the world for the World Cup and celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary.”
“These historic events represent an incredible opportunity for New Jersey, but they also require unprecedented coordination and vigilance from law enforcement and the public alike,” said NJOHSP Director Thomas Hauck. “Our office has been working closely with our partners to ensure robust security measures are in place throughout all venues and celebrations. We encourage everyone attending these events to remain aware of their surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Your vigilance is a critical component of our comprehensive security strategy.”
