A man who falsely claimed he had shot Charlie Kirk to help the real shooter escape is facing obstruction and child porn charges, authorities said.
George Zinn, 71, had initially been taken in as a suspect in the shooting but he was later released and charged with obstruction, the Utah Department of Public Safety said in a statement on the day of the shooting on September 10.
He has also been charged separately with four counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday.
