Your child’s favorite toy may be the reason your luggage gets flagged by airport security.
In an Aug. 11 tweet, the Transportation Security Administration reminded travelers that toys filled with more than 3.4 ounces of gel or dough are not allowed in carry-ons, per the TSA policy for liquids, gels and aerosols. The popular sensory NeeDoh squishies are no exception. However, they can be packed in checked luggage.
Most people know to empty their water bottles because liquids over 3.4 ounces (or 100 milliliters) are prohibited on carry-on luggage, and that weapon-like or hazardous items are likely going to get flagged. But the list doesn’t end there, and having prohibited items packed in your luggage can result in a massive penalty fee.
