Minnesota firearms manufacturer Federal Premium Ammunition has been awarded $116 million in two five-year contracts with the departments of Homeland Security and Defense.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement awarded the contractor a $75 million agreement to provide its officers with .223-caliber Remington duty ammunition.
“We are proud to provide the highest quality duty ammunition to DHS agents in the field,” Federal Ammunition president Jason Vanderbrink said in a statement. “Officers in the field require the highest quality ammunition at their disposal, in their vigilant fight to protect our freedoms. Federal Tactical ammunition ensures the highest performance threshold, and absolute officer confidence in terminal performance.”
Additionally, the company announced on Dec. 12 that it was awarded a five-year, $41 million contract from the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division for MK 318 Mod 0 carbine small-rifle cartridges to be used by the Navy and Marine Corps.
Delivery of the ammunition will begin next year.
