Andrew Rivera has joined the U.S. House of Representatives Sergeant at Arms as Security Coordination Manager, bringing more than 20 years of experience in security operations, executive protection, law enforcement, and risk management.
In his new role, Rivera leads security coordination initiatives supporting Members of Congress, congressional offices, and House operations. His responsibilities include coordinating with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, managing protective security programs, supporting threat assessments, and overseeing initiatives designed to strengthen the safety and resilience of House operations.
Rivera previously served with the Army Criminal Investigation Division, where he held senior security and executive protection leadership positions. Most recently, he served as Supervisory Special Agent and Senior Security Operations Manager supporting the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Security Detail, where he led executive protection strategy, global travel operations, and a security and investigations workforce.
Earlier roles with the Army Criminal Investigation Division included Deputy Agent in Charge and Executive Protection Program Manager, Agent in Charge and Executive Protection Program Manager, and Supervisory Special Agent overseeing investigations and security operations. His work included managing protective missions for senior military leaders, coordinating with domestic and international partners, and developing operational planning processes.
Rivera also supported executive protection operations for senior Department of the Army leadership, including the Secretary of the Army and Army Chief of Staff. His experience includes high-risk mission planning, route analysis, threat assessments, interagency coordination, and security program management.
Before his law enforcement career, Rivera served as a Military Police Soldier in the U.S. Army, supporting operations in South Korea, the United States, Haiti, and Afghanistan.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from American Military University and maintains a Top Secret security clearance.
