Brett Scott has joined the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Private Sector Office as Deputy Assistant Secretary, bringing experience in government affairs, legislative relations, and public-private engagement.
The DHS Private Sector Office serves as the Department’s primary liaison to the business community, working to strengthen partnerships between government and private-sector organizations. In his new role, Scott will support efforts focused on information sharing, engagement, and maintaining communication channels between DHS and businesses on issues affecting economic and national security.
Before taking on the role, Scott served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Senate within the DHS Office of Legislative Affairs.
Scott has more than a decade of experience in government affairs and policy. Prior to joining DHS, he served as Vice President of Government Affairs at the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA), leading advocacy efforts with federal and state policymakers.
He previously served as a Senior Government Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of Transportation. His industry experience includes government affairs leadership roles with Cruise Lines International Association and Maersk Line.
Scott also served as an Associate Partner at DGA Group and held earlier roles with E3 Federal Solutions and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
