Chad Gorman has stepped into a new role as Director of DHS/TSA Relations at CLEAR, bringing more than two decades of experience across homeland security, emergency management, and national security into the private sector.
The move places Gorman, an author at Homeland Security Today, in a position that directly intersects with federal partners he has worked alongside for years. Most recently, he served at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as Deputy Executive Assistant Administrator for Operations Support, where he led a workforce of more than 1,000 personnel. In that role, he oversaw the development and deployment of screening technologies, helped shape nationwide security programs, and worked closely with government and industry stakeholders to strengthen transportation security operations.
His background also includes extensive time at FEMA, where he held multiple senior leadership roles. That included serving as Deputy Assistant Administrator for National Preparedness and leading national-level programs focused on readiness, training, and resilience. He also played a central role in crisis response efforts, including leadership on FEMA’s COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force, coordinating federal support that contributed to more than 200 million vaccinations within 100 days.
Earlier in his career, Gorman held roles across DHS and the Department of Defense, including work in intelligence, planning, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) preparedness.
Alongside his government service, Gorman currently serves as President and CEO of Gravitas Strategies, advising organizations on security operations, regulatory compliance, and resilience planning.
Gorman was also awarded the 2024 Presidential Rank Award—Meritorious, recognizing his executive leadership in federal service.
Gorman received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland at College Park, his Masters in Security Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He is also a graduate of Harvard University – John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Senior Executive Fellows Program.
