Christina Monaco has announced her new role at The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), where she will bring her extensive expertise in geospatial intelligence and digital transformation to drive innovation and collaboration within the organization. Monaco’s career spans over three decades in the intelligence and geospatial sectors, with leadership roles in both government and industry.
Before joining OGC, Monaco served as Vice President of Programs at the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) for over three years, where she played a pivotal role in advancing geospatial intelligence programs and fostering collaboration between government, industry, and academia. Prior to USGIF, she spent over seven years at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), where she contributed to the agency’s mission to provide timely and accurate geospatial intelligence to support national security.
Monaco’s career in the intelligence community began at the Office of Naval Intelligence, where she held various roles, including Team Leader for the Exploitation Program, Foreign Liaison Officer, and Contact Specialist. She later spent 12 years at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), where she developed her expertise in digital transformation, resource management, and customer experience.
Throughout her career, Monaco has been recognized for her ability to lead organizational change and manage global resources. She is known for building strong relationships across international organizations and with non-traditional partners in the intelligence community, including venture capital firms and tech startups.
At The Open Geospatial Consortium, Monaco is expected to leverage her deep understanding of geospatial intelligence and her strategic leadership skills to help the organization achieve its goals of advancing geospatial standards and technology solutions. Her appointment aligns with OGC’s mission to promote the development and use of open geospatial standards to address global challenges.
