D&G Solutions Welcomes Cami Mercado as New Vice President of Defense

D&G Solutions has announced the appointment of Cami Mercado as the new Vice President of Defense Programs. This addition to D&G’s leadership team underscores their unwavering commitment to strengthen operational resiliency, sustain readiness, and protect our homeland.

Cami is a seasoned leader and proven program manager. She is a retired Air Force Logistics Officer, with over 23 years of leadership in supply chain management and contracting.  Cami is a certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) with Defense Acquisition certifications in contracting, life cycle logistics, and program management.

Prior to filling this role, she led the Global Bulk Fuel Management and Delivery contract at the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). Under her guidance, this contract —valued at $30 million—marked D&G’s first large Full and Open contract, a significant milestone for an emerging small business.

In her new role, Cami will oversee a portfolio consisting of 77 personnel supporting 15 contracts valued at $77 million. Additionally, she will manage a growing business pipeline estimated at over $23 million, positioning D&G for continued success and growth in the defense sector.

“Cami brings exceptional experience as an Air Force officer, leader, and program manager,” said Leah Sanders, D&G CEO.  “Cami is a critical asset to our team and her leadership will undoubtedly drive D&G’s mission forward.”

Cami expressed her excitement about this new chapter, stating, “D&G is an incredible company that I have been very fortunate to be part of over the last three years. I look forward to continuing to support and expand our footprint within DoD and working with the talented men and women of Team D&G to provide first-class support to our warfighters.”

Cami succeeds Scott Hopper, who has served as Vice President of Defense for the past year. During his tenure, D&G’s Department of Defense portfolio achieved significant milestones, including the addition of new prime and subcontracts across DoD, including supporting development of the strategy for the Defense Logistics Agency. Under Scott’s leadership, D&G submitted more than $120 million in new bids for DoD contracts, while delivery teams earned 100% CPARs ratings of “Very Good” or better.

“I am really grateful to D&G for giving me the opportunity to work with and learn from this incredible team,” Hopper commented. “In terms of how to run a company and care for people, there was no better classroom than D&G. This is an incredible place to work.”

Scott is departing D&G to focus on growing his own venture, Hopper Consulting, LLC, an SBA-approved Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). However, his connection to D&G will remain strong as he transitions to a subcontractor and Senior Advisor role for D&G.
