On Tuesday, the Senate formally confirmed the appointment of United States Air Force Lieutenant General Jeffrey Kruse as the forthcoming Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). He assumes this pivotal role following the retirement of United States Army Lieutenant General Scott Berrier.
Lt. Gen. Kruse presently holds the position of Director’s Adviser for Military Affairs at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Prior to this, he served in the capacity of Director for Defense Intelligence – Warfighter Support within the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security.
His comprehensive portfolio of joint assignments includes tenures as the Director for Intelligence at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Director of Intelligence for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, and Senior Special Adviser for the Commander of U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander, Europe.
Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines, remarked that Lt. Gen. Kruse’s wealth of experience and unwavering commitment to ethical standards will be instrumental as he undertakes the oversight of the defense intelligence enterprise in the contemporary landscape of multifaceted threats.
