Temitayo Aderoba Named Unit Chief of Investigative and Intelligence Applications Unit at FBI

Temitayo Aderoba has taken on a new role as Unit Chief of the Investigative and Intelligence Applications Unit within the FBI’s IT Application and Data Division, where he will oversee the strategy and modernization of enterprise applications supporting federal law enforcement and national security missions.

In the position, Aderoba leads the development and delivery of mission-critical investigative and intelligence platforms used by FBI investigators and analysts across the Bureau. His responsibilities include overseeing multidisciplinary engineering teams managing a portfolio of operational systems and guiding digital transformation initiatives such as cloud modernization, DevSecOps adoption, and enterprise platform integration. The role also involves transitioning legacy systems to cloud-based architectures while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and enterprise architecture standards.

Aderoba brings more than 25 years of experience in cybersecurity, intelligence, and systems engineering. Prior to his current role, he served as Unit Chief of the FBI’s Enterprise Cybersecurity Operations Center, where he led 24/7 cybersecurity monitoring and incident response operations protecting the Bureau’s enterprise networks and national security systems. In that role, he directed teams responsible for threat detection, digital forensics, and cyber defense across investigative and intelligence infrastructure supporting global law enforcement operations.

During his tenure leading the operations center, Aderoba oversaw modernization initiatives that expanded enterprise security monitoring and implemented cyber defense strategies aligned with Zero Trust architecture and federal cybersecurity mandates. His teams leveraged threat intelligence, security analytics platforms, and automation technologies to detect and mitigate advanced cyber threats.

Earlier in his FBI career, Aderoba held leadership roles across the Bureau’s Office of the Chief Information Officer and Directorate of Intelligence, including positions focused on information security workforce development, strategic technology initiatives, and HUMINT technology programs. His work included advancing enterprise technology capabilities that support investigative and intelligence missions.

Before joining the FBI, Aderoba worked in a series of cybersecurity and network security roles supporting government operations, including positions with Leidos, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Apex Systems, SRA, and USmax Corporation. Earlier in his career he served as a WMD analyst with the U.S. Capitol Police and as an information technology communications analyst with the Department of Defense.

Aderoba is also a U.S. Army veteran, having served as an Army officer. In addition to his government service, he currently teaches as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Cybersecurity Technology program at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where he instructs undergraduate courses in cybersecurity and operating systems.

He holds a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science in Information Technology, and an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus, as well as a Chief Information Security Officer certificate from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College.
