DHS Blue Campaign Partners With US Chamber, UPS

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has entered into a new partnership between its Blue Campaign – the unified voice for DHS’s efforts to combat human trafficking – and the US Chamber of Commerce, as well as a “unique partnership with the United Parcel Service (UPS), the largest package delivery company and one of the leading global providers of specialized transportation and logistics services.”

DHS said, “UPS has already developed human trafficking awareness training for freight drivers, employees who see neighborhoods and the people in them every day.”

The Blue Campaign works in partnership with law enforcement, government, non-governmental and private organizations to protect the basic right of freedom and to bring those who exploit human lives to justice.

“There is an undeniable powerhouse in a public-private partnership," said Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Russell C. Deyo. “We rely on close partnerships with those who interact with communities every day. Those who own and operate public-facing businesses have an especially important role. We applaud the US Chamber of Commerce for being a partner in the fight against human trafficking.”

The US Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business organization representing the interest of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors and regions. These member organizations reach the general public widely on a daily basis “and are uniquely situated to combat human trafficking,” DHS stated.

“The business community faces the risks and challenges associated with human trafficking on a daily basis and we heard from our membership a real desire to help address this important issue in a meaningful way. Now, by sharing the tools and resources of the Blue Campaign with our Human Trafficking Task Force and across our network, we can help businesses achieve that goal, said Randy Johnson, senior vice president of Labor, Immigration and Employee Benefits at the US Chamber of Commerce.

As a partner, the DHS Blue Campaign offers co-branded awareness materials, training and the support necessary to empower workforces and communities to recognize and report human trafficking.

“By bringing the public and private sectors together through the Blue Campaign, real progress can be made in the fight against human trafficking and the business community looks forward to lending its expertise and voice to this important initiative,” said Ann Beauchesne, senior vice president of National Security and Emergency Preparedness at the US Chamber.
