George Bamford, a longtime national security and cybersecurity leader, has launched BAM Consulting, LLC, a new firm providing cybersecurity, risk management, and business advisory services. He announced the venture on LinkedIn, describing the company as a trusted partner for organizations looking to strengthen security and operational resilience.
Bamford brings more than two decades of leadership experience across the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the U.S. Coast Guard, as well as roles supporting the White House and Department of Defense. Most recently, he served as Senior Advisor for Analytic Capability at CISA’s National Risk Management Center, where he helped advance the agency’s approach to national risk assessment and infrastructure protection.
Before that, Bamford held a series of senior posts within CISA, including Acting Associate Director for Risk Services and Acting Associate Director for Analysis, where he oversaw efforts to assess threats to critical infrastructure and supply chain security. Earlier in his career, he served as Director for Continuity Policy at the National Security Council, advising on federal continuity programs and resilience planning.
His DHS career includes leading the Strategic Infrastructure Analysis Division, directing operations at the National Infrastructure Coordinating Center, and serving as the department’s first Chief of Cyber Threat Analysis.
A retired U.S. Coast Guard Reserve Captain, Bamford’s service included assignments at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Southern Command, and during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response, where he supported the National Incident Command and the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security.
Bamford’s background also spans the intelligence community, where he served as a Senior Program Manager at the Department of Defense, overseeing development of the Intelligence Community Desktop Environment under the ODNI’s IT Enterprise initiative.
He holds an MPA in International Security and Leadership from Harvard Kennedy School, an MBA in Information Systems Management from The George Washington University, and a B.S. in Management from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
