The White House has launched the Gold Eagle Initiative, a new cybersecurity vulnerability coordination clearinghouse designed to accelerate the identification, prioritization and remediation of software vulnerabilities across U.S. critical infrastructure. Established under President Donald Trump’s June 2 Executive Order 14409 on advanced artificial intelligence innovation and security, the initiative brings together federal agencies, open source software partners and critical infrastructure companies to use frontier AI capabilities for faster exploit detection, coordinated vulnerability response and more efficient sharing of actionable threat information.
The administration detailed that the Gold Eagle will leverage existing federal authorities and resources to reduce duplicative vulnerability scanning while strengthening cyber resilience across both government and the private sector. The effort is being led jointly by the White House, the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Homeland Security through the CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency), and the Department of War in collaboration with industry partners. Officials described the initiative as a new operational model intended to help defenders identify risks, prioritize remediation efforts and protect systems underpinning the nation’s economy, national security and critical infrastructure.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, the Treasury Department is working hand in hand with the private sector to safeguard our financial institutions, close vulnerabilities, and protect the integrity of the U.S. financial system,” Scott Bessent, secretary of the Treasury, said in a media statement. “Treasury, along with our partner agencies, will continue to harness frontier AI capabilities to stay ahead of our adversaries and defend the American people from emerging threats.”
