Kaz Daughtry has been appointed Regional Director for Region 2 of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where he will oversee regional operations supporting New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Based at CISA Region 2 headquarters in New York City, Daughtry will lead regional activities across CISA’s mission areas, including physical security, cybersecurity, chemical security, and emergency communications programs.
Daughtry brings extensive public safety leadership experience across local, state, and federal government. Before joining CISA, he served as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s New York State and Local Law Enforcement Liaison, where he supported coordination and information sharing among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement partners.
In that role, Daughtry worked with government leaders, law enforcement executives, emergency management officials, and private-sector partners on efforts to strengthen homeland security, protect critical infrastructure, and improve coordinated responses to emerging threats.
Previously, Daughtry served as New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, where he coordinated citywide public safety strategy, emergency response, crisis management, and interagency operations.
He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Operations for the New York City Police Department (NYPD), overseeing operational planning, major event security, demonstrations, emergency response, and personnel deployments across the department.
Daughtry began his law enforcement career with the NYPD as a police officer and advanced through investigative and executive leadership roles, including assignments as a detective and senior command positions.
Throughout his career, Daughtry has focused on integrating emerging technologies into public safety operations, including the use of drones and other innovative tools to support operational effectiveness. His experience includes work in law enforcement operations, homeland security, emergency management, counterterrorism, and major event security.
In 2025, Homeland Security Today recognized Daughtry as one of its Trailblazers for his contributions to public safety and homeland security.
“I am truly honored and humbled to begin serving as the Regional Director for CISA Region 2,” Daughtry said. “Public service has always been my calling. From my years with the NYPD, to serving as New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, to my work at the Department of Homeland Security, every step has reinforced the importance of protecting our communities and our nation.”
CISA Region 2 serves a diverse area that includes major population centers, critical infrastructure, and government and private-sector partners across New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
