U.S. Navy Approves EdgeRunner AI for Sensitive Military Ops

The approval enables local AI processing with classified data in communications-denied military settings

The U.S. Navy has granted Impact Level 6 (IL6) Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditation to EdgeRunner AI, clearing the company’s EdgeRunner OS for use in some of the military’s most sensitive operational environments.

The authorization allows navy programs to integrate secret-level data with the operating system, enabling AI capabilities to function in disconnected and contested settings.

According to the company, EdgeRunner OS is designed to run large language models locally on devices rather than relying on cloud-based processing.
