Coast Guard Base Miami Prepares for Hurricane Dorian

Members at Coast Guard Base Miami Beach conduct preparations Thursday at the base to prepare for the possible impact from Hurricane Dorian.

Crews at Base Miami Beach Facilities Engineering are storing boat parts, tools and securing the building’s hurricane shutters to help prevent hurricane damage. Small boats are being dry docked and stored before the impacts of Dorian arrives to the Miami area.

The Coast Guard relocates and stages assets for storm avoidance so Coast Guard crews are able to have a more rapid post-storm response.
