The Lt. James E. Breining Scholarship Foundation will provide the first college scholarship to a Public Safety Cadet by September 2019. The scholarship award will be at least $1,500 for Cadets starting college in the next 18 months, or who are already in college.
Lieutenant James “Jim” Breining, and now the Scholarship Foundation that bears his name, have supported young people interested in the public safety profession since 1966. “Jim Breining was a tireless advocate for youth organizations, like PSC, which are dedicated to building character and committed to quality policing,” said the foundation. “We are offering this scholarship to the Public Safety Cadet who best embodies the character and spirit of the program”
Interested and active Public Safety Cadets in good standing should visit www.jebscholar.org for details. The application deadline is August 2, 2019, and the winner will be announced shortly after the application deadline. The winning Cadet will also be encouraged to attend the PSC National Marksmanship Competition and Response to Resistance Symposium in September, for a special formal award presentation.
