The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) has highlighted its work in a video supporting security preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including efforts to strengthen counter-drone capabilities at tournament venues.
Working with the Federal Protective Service, DHS components, and state and local public safety agencies, S&T is helping deploy and evaluate technologies designed to address unauthorized drone activity during large-scale events.
As DHS’s research, development, testing, and evaluation organization, S&T works with government and industry partners to provide security solutions based on operational needs. Its World Cup efforts include collaboration with FPS to support counter-drone technology that helps protect venues and surrounding areas.
