TaaSera Secures Additional Funding to Fuel Growth in Preemptive Breach Detection

TaaSera Inc., the leading provider of preemptive breach detection for cybersecurity, announced today that it recently secured $4.1 million in bridge funding as part of a $15 million Series B financing. In prior funding rounds TaaSera raised $15.3 million, bringing its total financing to $19.4 million since the company’s founding in 2012. TaaSera will use the new funds to accelerate sales, marketing and further development of the company’s AWARE (Attack Warning and Response Engine) platform for Preemptive Breach Detection.

Growing demand for the company’s flagship NetTrust solution, which expanded to 50 installations in just two quarters, provided strong market validation for both existing and new investors as the company rolls out its solutions for insider threat, cloud, mobile and endpoint breach detection, a hot space in cybersecurity.

“TaaSera has the most advanced behavior detection and analytics capabilities of any company in the fast-growing market for Breach Detection Systems. Our AWARE platform delivers a complete ecosystem of solutions for uncovering breaches in minutes rather than months – buying enterprises essential time to react before data are compromised,” said C. Scott Hartz, TaaSera CEO. “This latest financing signals investor confidence in company management, technology and sales performance, validating our mission of preempting data breaches before it’s too late.”  Mr. Hartz is the former CEO of PwC Consulting and a former Director of Siebel Systems.

TaaSera’s mission is to build enterprise solutions that empower IT security professionals to identify and act in the critical stages of breach attempts and insider abuse – the window between when threats compromise IT systems and the point when targeted data is successfully stolen or destroyed. The company’s solutions are based on technology developed under U.S. Army-funded cyber R&D programs.  TaaSera currently helps government, banking, financial services, insurance and healthcare customers identify and arrest unauthorized activity after malicious attacks inevitably defeat traditional IT security controls, but before critical data can be stolen.

“Companies like TaaSera are on the front lines of what will be an increasingly vigorous fight against malicious actors, hackers and other cyber bandits,” said Norman Winarsky, President of SRI Ventures and Vice President, SRI International. “TaaSera’s technology continuously monitors for post-infection, pre-breach behaviors, which means that companies can remediate cyber attacks before they result in traumatic damage – a critical advantage.”

TaaSera’s cybersecurity technology and AWARE family of products represent the fruition of over five years of patent-protected research working jointly with SRI International. By shifting the focus from edge protection to core detection, TaaSera’s NetTrust Preemptive Breach Detection System (BDS) solution uncovers and detects otherwise hidden indicators of malicious behaviors before a data or insider breach occurs.

Unlike tools that use network and file signatures, sandbox execution, baseline anomalies, big data or log file analysis, NetTrust uses patented behavior detection and analytics technology to see through well-planned attacks which don’t leave log evidence, obfuscate lateral movement and tunnel inside seemingly legitimate traffic to exfiltrate data. Enterprise security teams worldwide rely on NetTrust to detect, triage and respond to breach incidents far more quickly than ever before, minimizing the risk of data breach and disruption to business continuity.

About TaaSera, Inc.
