Kerri Cossean has taken on a new role as Senior Strategy Manager with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations office, continuing a federal career that has spanned cybersecurity, emergency management, and homeland security strategy.
Cossean joins the position after nearly five years at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, where she most recently served as a Program Analyst supporting the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative’s partnerships efforts within CISA’s Cybersecurity Division. Prior to that, she worked as a Strategic Planner in CISA’s Strategy, Policy, and Plans office.
Her new role marks a return to CBP, where she previously served as a Strategic Planner within Air and Marine Operations from 2020 to 2021. During that time, she also participated in DHS’s Joint Mission Fellows Program.
Before joining CISA, Cossean held multiple positions at FEMA, supporting recovery and individual assistance operations. Her experience included disaster recovery deployments supporting Hurricane Michael response efforts in Florida and disaster survivor assistance operations in Louisiana. She also completed the Naval Postgraduate School’s Emergence Program in 2019.
Earlier in her career, Cossean served in roles with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis, the Department of State, and U.S. Southern Command.
She holds a master’s degree in history from Florida International University and a bachelor’s degree in history and Russian studies from Muhlenberg College.
